With over 10-years-experience in adults' football, Liam has played across all divisions of the Cheltenham League, the Gloucestershire Northern Senior league and Evesham District League. Representing (and in some cases captaining) Prestbury Rovers, Newton, Smiths Barometrics and Bishops Cleeve. With a reputation and identity for his tough tackling and no-nonsense approach to defending, Liam will continue to fall in love with this game season after season.
Building his own club has always been a dream, ever since the days of being a kid on Championship Manager.
Now, with the years of planning and experience in place, along with the support of a lifelong friend, it's time to make a dream become a reality.
Liam looks to local clubs such as Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham Saracens and Cheltenham Civil Service for his inspiration and for how high he is setting the bar for Montpellier FC; clubs with their own grounds, facilities, structure, Multiple men's, youth and ladies' teams. That is the minimum stature we want to achieve for Montpellier Football Club.
Sam's footballing journey over the last decade has seen him play as Goalkeeper for 5-a-side team 'Juve Gotta Be Joking'.
At youth levels, he played as a goalkeeper before moving onto a forward position. Although goalkeeping isn't the first choice, he always seems to find himself coming back to it and has since played, placed and won multiple leagues, tournaments and charity competitions.
Football through and through, the prospect of setting up and running his own club has been a dream for a very long time.
"It is my hope that we can take Montpellier FC and create a new standard for what a grass roots football club should be. Community driven off the field and results driven on the field, my hope is to grow our club commercially and sustainably, supporting local business and charity all while cultivating a level of excellence on the field that will see us charge up the footballing ladder"
James joined his first football club aged 10 after falling in love with the game during the 2006 World Cup.
He spent most of his teenage years as a versatile LB for Fintan FC; competing at high standards in the league as well as reaching the cup final at the now called Jonny-Rocks Stadium. Since then he has regularly featured for the five a side team ‘Juve Gotta be Joking’.
“Getting myself back onto an 11-a-side pitch is something I’ve wanted to do for a couple of years. As soon as I heard about Montpellier FC I knew it was a project I wanted to be involved in both on and off the pitch. I’m looking forward to watching Montpellier FC’s journey unfold with the players and the community- it’s a club I’m proud to be a part of”
Mike has been involved in football from the age of 13 starting his playing at Pittville United and going on to win a cup at the (now called) Jonny-Rocks Stadium. From then he started his senior football career from the age of 15/16 playing for Gas Green, now known as Whaddon United.
Having also played at higher levels for the likes of Cheltenham Saracens and Cheltenham Civil Service, most of his trophies have come with Whaddon United and FC Whaddon in Sunday league football including league titles and a county cup.
"So last couple of years as I’ve gotten older I’ve always wondered what it would be like to manage and having had some of the best local managers around me my whole football life the likes of Joey Cunneen from my Whaddon days also John Hunt and Mark Buckland from my Saracens days. I hope to be able to build a great squad to represent Montpellier FC and for us to be all be proud of on and off the pitch. I would like to thank Liam and Sam for giving me this opportunity here’s to a bright future"
